We think we’ve just found the perfect ‘big gathering’ meal that the whole family is going to fall in love with. This hearty dish comes to us from the sophisticated, yet simple French cuisine. And when you take a look at the ingredients, it really calls for all the basics. We’ve got the veggies – tomatoes, garlic, onions, carrots; the meat – sausages and chicken legs. And there’s no savory French dish without fresh parsley and thyme.
The only downside (if we can even call it that) is that this gorgeous recipe takes 4 hours to cook. But hear us out! Let’s say you’ve got friends or family coming over for dinner. You have a bunch of other things to do in the house. You don’t have time to prepare a four course meal. And this is where chicken cassoulet comes to the rescue. All you need to do is prepare the ingredients and toss them into a oven-safe dish. We promise that your guests will ask for seconds!

This recipe is an incredible combination of easy and elegant. We recommend eating it alongside a biiiiig portion of buttery mashed potatoes which let this sauce hog the limelight in the way it deserves.

If there’s one combo that’s been on everyone’s dinner table for years, surely it has to be chicken legs and potatoes. But who says you can’t fancy up an old classic? The added beets and carrots give this classic dish a nice facelift. And did you know that beetroot is naturally rich in nitrates? Nitrates transform in the human body as nitric oxide which allows blood vessels to expand and the blood to flow smoothly. When muscles gain more oxygen, it results in jumps in stamina and overall athletic performance enhancement. Who knew beetroots were so cool!
This sheet-pan dish is quick, colorful and healthy, with a pretty decent health score. The garlic and thyme, and don’t forget the white wine (wow, isn’t that a rhyme) add a wonderful fragrance completing this simple dish. And if you want, you can even pour yourself a glass of white wine on the side.

This might not be a full oven baked chicken leg recipe per se, but we’ll count it anyway. After all, thighs are a part of a leg. This lemon butter chicken is another no-effort recipe – the best kind, if you ask us. Like Gandalf says, one sheet-pan to roast them all. Or something like that.
Anyways, sheet pan recipes save SO much time. They’re super easy to make and usually don’t require any extravagant ingredients. Nor do they call for any professional cooking techniques. And obviously, there are less dishes.
What to have alongside this? Our recommendation is a simple spinach salad. Toss about 3 handfuls of fresh baby spinach, add a drizzle of Balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Season with salt and mix. From here, you can mix it up. Add pomegranate seeds, diced beetroot, and chopped almonds. Or parmesan and walnuts. Or roasted pumpkin and feta. Whatever you want, really!

The French are onto something with this one! And yes, you might be noticing a bit of a pattern in this recipe roundup; chicken (duh) and white wine. But who says you don’t get to live a little, even on a busy weeknight? Mustard is the secret hero here, adding a slightly sharp flavor to the otherwise neutral chicken.
You can serve this bright oven baked chicken leg recipe with orzo, or herbed couscous. We also love to add a tablespoon or two of Greek yogurt dressing on the side. To make this simple dressing just add a pot of Greek yogurt into a separate smaller bowl. You can wing the quantity based on how many people you’re cooking for. Add half a teaspoon of salt, and hot chili flakes. Check the saltiness levels here and adjust to your liking if needed. Then top it all off with a sprinkle of olive oil and some flaxseeds or pumpkin seeds. Yum!

There’s no way to go on (and on, and on) about oven roasted chicken leg recipes and not mention some Middle Eastern inspired flavors. It would be nearly scandalous! Thankfully, we’ve found just the right one! These oven-roasted chicken legs are truly *chef’s kiss*.
Even though it may seem like the chicken is the main character here, the spices are the true stars. Take za’atar, for example. This Middle Eastern spice mix completely transforms the dish, giving it that signature tartness. Of course, with the herby za’atar, you simply must add olive oil, lemon and garlic too. With those additions, the full circle of aromatic ingredients is nearly finished. Just add a salt to taste, and fresh cilantro for garnish. Serve with couscous and labneh on the side. Bon appétit!
