Have you ever wanted to eat like a real Italian? Here’s a fun meal plan made by Angelo Coassin (or maybe you know him as TikTok and Instagram star @cookingwithbello). He’s put together some of his favorite recipes that will allow you to eat just like he does for an entire week!
”Did you know that in Italy we eat cake for breakfast?” Angelo asked. (We didn’t, but we’re totally on board!)
“In this meal plan you will find 7 different super easy cake and dessert recipes to start your day whispering… MAMMA MIA”
Know that snacks are optional if you feel hungry, but if you’re a ‘three meals a day’ person and don’t really snack, then you can just stick to the breakfast, lunches, and dinners.
For Day 1 start your day with Chocolate Banana Cookies, the Italian way.
For lunch you can enjoy a nice plate of rich Caramelized Onion Pasta. Who wouldn’t be excited about pasta for lunch?
As for the optional snack, you can try Chickpea Bread.
Slice it in half and serve it with some arugula, Parma ham and fresh burrata. It’s the kind of snack you can imagine yourself enjoying in the piazzas of Rome, no?
For dinner you will fuel your body up with some healthy and tasty Broccoli Cakes. Pair them with a nice arugula salad featuring fresh oranges and grated carrots.
Your breakfast on day 2 will be Easy Double Chocolate Dessert (you can use either dark or milk chocolate according to your taste). Pair it with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice for some extra vitamins.
Lunch will be a 2-Ingredient Fresh Pasta (with Broccoli). Because, when in Italy, eat pasta!
Snack: Deep fried stuffed olives. These delicious little morsels are the perfect food for a classic Italian aperitivo. Serve them with a classic Aperol spritz.
Finish your day with a lovely bowl of Cheesy Chicken Meatballs. If you prefer you can serve them covered with some tomato sauce instead of cheese. It’s basically Italian comfort food in a bowl! Serve them with a fresh tomato and basil salad to balance out the richness of the meatballs.
You will start your day 3 withe most simple Apple Soufflé (3 ingredients). Feeling like you need a health boost? Pair this one with a green smoothie for more healthy nutrients.
Lunch will be a fresh Avocado Pesto Pasta, served with some freshly halved cherry tomatoes on top.
If you’re hungry for a snack try Whipped Ricotta Bruschetta for a twist on the usual sandwich you’d have.
Dinner will be Eggplant Rolls for a dose of that good old Italian melanzane. Serve them with some rosemary and garlic roast potatoes to round off the meal.
Start your day with sweet and fresh Lemon Ricotta Cake. It’s one of the lighter and more refreshing cakes on this ‘Eat like an Italian’ meal plan, and the perfect way to start off your day. Pair it with an espresso or cappuccino if you like.
Lunch is delicious Caprese Flatbreads. If, for some reason, you want to change up the basil/tomato/mozarella combo then you can use this flatbread recipe and add your favorite filling. Try it with some feta and spinach or chopped olives, cream cheese and pancetta. Serve them with a fennel salad to balance our the carbs and cheese.
Snack on cherry tomatoes pastries if you feel hungry during the day.
Finish the day with wonderful Tomato Pastina, Italian-style!
For breakfast on day five, we’re having Blueberry Yoghurt Loaf. Pair it with a nice espresso, the true Italian way.
For lunch we will have what Angelo’s family calls “Pasta del Pecote.’ Seriously, we can’t get enough of these pasta recipes. And we’re sure you can’t either!
If you’d like an afternoon snack try Avocado bread, slice it and serve it with some Nutella on top. It might sound strange, but trust us, it’s a match made in heaven.
For dinner, eggplants are the hero again in traditional Sicialian Eggplants. Serve them with a crisp bowl of fresh salad. Add a couple of finely chopped anchovies for some extra flavor.
Start the day with super decadent Flourless Chocolate Cake.
For lunch, serve your Potato Schiacciata with a nice glass of red wine and a charcuterie board. After all, it’s the weekend! And you can enjoy your wine while you picture yourself having a long lunch in a Tuscan villa.
Snack on upside down apple pastries. Angelo also suggests that for a “super sexy alternative”, you can try them with peaches or pears.
Finish off with lovely Mushroom Carbonara. You can add extra protein or veggies if you want, and we always suggest an aragula salad with carbonara to complement the richness of the sauce.
Breakfast on day 7 will be everyone’s favorite: Strawberry Tiramisu (you can use this recipe as inspiration and top your tiramisu with your favourite fruits. Try to add some wild berries or peaches).
Lunch: Crispy Parmesan Potatoes. They’re delicious by themselves but for a full meal, serve them with some Milanese Cotolette or baked fish!
Snack on Eggplant Parmigiana Tacos if you feel peckish during the day. Angelo suggests you serve them with a nice glass of Prosecco for an aperitivo that will make you whisper… mamma mia!
Dinner: Cheese Gnocchi – because what’s a Sunday without pasta?!
